The Contemporary at Laguna Gloria

I was waiting for Macy today while she was in her wheel-throwing class. I sat overlooking the Colorado River and working in a watercolor journal.

Mixed Media Postcard

I have been working with mixed media lately in the 4″x6″ format. This is one of several I did today; it is colored pencil, ink(s), watercolor and gouache on the back of a repurposed cardboard I cut out of a Shiner Bock carton.

Recent Mixed Media

Here are a few recent pieces I have made since around May. These are in my sketchpads, on Arches 300lb watercolor paper (really nice) and 4″x6″ watercolor postcards. They are mostly mixed media: watercolor, gouache, ink and colored pencil. I try to carry a small kit of supplies everywhere I go. Some of these are from bike trails around Austin and a couple are of Windy Point on Lake Travis.

Grand Lake O the Cherokee

A recent watercolor in my new 5″x 8″ Pentalic watercolor sketch pad. I used watercolor, watercolor pencil, and gouache. I like being able to go back in with gouache to push and pull areas.
